Beige Travertine

Beige travertine is a natural sedimentary stone type, a rock formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate found in underground sources. This stone briefly has dissolved calcium bicarbonate properties in underground waters and is one of the natural building stones formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonates in caves with underground thermal waters or in areas where thermal water emerges.

Physical Properties

Beige travertine stands out with its unique physical and chemical properties:

It adapts to many areas with its generally light-colored structure. They are limestone formed over the precipitation of spa waters. At the same time, their structures are uniform. The hardness effect is low, and it has a soft structure.

Besides being easy to extract and process, it can be easily transported anywhere thanks to its low density. Travertine is a rock with a softer structure compared to marble, granite, and other natural stones. White, beige, off-white colors provide a structure that is quite compatible with furniture, wall paint, and decoration. The surfaces, which are durable thanks to the calcium carbonate in its content, are also difficult to wear. It shows high resistance especially against weather conditions such as rain, sunlight, and wind. Travertine surfaces, unlike marble, have their own unique pores. These pores, which provide a sophisticated appearance, can absorb more moisture than other natural stones.

Color and Texture Properties

Beige travertine generally consists of warm beige and cream tones and shows various texture properties:

Natural color tones and unique patterns create an aesthetic appeal in every environment from living rooms to bedrooms. The durability of travertine stone ensures that elegance is preserved for many years. Beige and cream travertine stone varieties add a soft texture to many areas with their aesthetic stance and color harmony. Travertine used in the blasting stone method provides a more natural appearance compared to marble.

Production Places in Turkey

This natural formation produced from travertine quarries is found in Burdur, Sivas, Bucak, and Mersin. It is used as a raw material in rubble, factory, blog materials due to production.

Surface Treatments

Beige travertine can be made suitable for different uses with various surface treatments:

Polished: A more glossy appearance can be obtained thanks to polishing, which is an option for those who want a smoother touch instead of porous surfaces that exist in nature. It is also effective in resisting stains, but it is not recommended for flooring or stair coverings as it is slippery. Honed: This method, which is preferred more for those who love a matte appearance, displays an elegant stance especially for interiors. It is less slippery as its polishing is light. Aged Travertine: Surfaces also known as 'Tumbled' have an antique appearance after the aging process. These surfaces, which generally provide a more useful area in wall coverings, enrich the design.

Areas of Use

Beige travertine is preferred in various spaces with its versatile usage properties:

Interior Applications

It can be used in fireplaces, decorative interior chimneys, stairhead entrances, interior structures, or floors of offices and homes. Wall coverings made with travertine stone in home interior decoration add warmth as well as a natural appearance. Travertine stones that contribute to changing the atmosphere of the room can be used on just one wall of the room or the entire room covering can be preferred.

Exterior Applications

It is frequently preferred for grass paths, exterior stairs, and pool sides in houses with gardens and pools. It can be preferred in the garden, by the pool, on the walking track, or as exterior covering. It is used in wall coverings, pool floor covering and stairs, garden courtyards, bathrooms and showers, sinks, medallions, fireplaces, and floor coverings.

Maintenance and Protection

This natural stone should not be exposed to water for a long time, and when exposed to water, freezing should be prevented as it undergoes deformation when exposed to water and freezing occurs. Waterproof surface applications should be made when it is considered to be used outdoors.

Beige travertine stone is a valuable building material preferred in both interior and exterior applications with its natural and warm color tone, elegant texture, and durability. With proper maintenance and application techniques, it can preserve its original appearance for many years and adds aesthetic value to the spaces where it is used.
